Wow. It has been more than a month after this blog was last updated. In that frame of time, it is safe to say a LOT has happened, especially to EoG.
Advancement from the 1st round in MHLR Retribution #11
I'm going to start off on our participation in various tournament. Last Friday, we competed in the first round of the MHLR Retribution #11 in which the result favored us thus resulting in EoG advancing to the next round (bracket). Unfortunately, there was no replay available as the game was reloaded once after a player dropped.
2nd in Raksasa Dota Mini Tournament
The day after that, we went to another tournament, this time an offline event somewhere in Selayang. The first day was a walk in the park, leaving the second day with only 3 teams vying for top spot. It was not to be as we were stomped in the first game against Aiman Tak Kisah. Morale was at a particular low at that time, so we composed ourselves (kinda released our frustation of previous defeat) and defeated SpL soundly to claim the second spot. The day ended with the organizers treating everyone associated, either directly or indirectly with the tournament, with light meal and beverages. Again, no replays are available.
As for this weekend, EoG WILL be going to SMM in Melaka. Although we are not really the expected winner, anything can happen at an offline event. Wish us luck though! I expect us to enjoy our time there.
To end this long-awaited post/update, I hope more of the community could attend SMM as I feel it's imperative for this kind of global event to supported. We here at EoG would like to thank all our fans who have been tremendous over this past couple of months.
On a different note, I would kindly stress that obscene words in the ShoutMix will not be tolerated (post deleted, IP banned).

Charity DotA Tournament - Top 16
EoG had entered a tournament in FTZ Asia.net Cafe, Subang Jaya this past weekend (3rd & 4th October 2009). Visit these sites for information on this particular tournament.

A week prior to this tournament, we were facing dilemmas as Blitzkreig wasn't available as he's approaching his midterms so we decided to let "fGm.DeJa^Vu|Wan" from the clan fGm to be our stand-in player and with CaPiQ's unavailability for SMM Selangor in the following weekend of this tournament, CaPiQ himself decided to give way for our new recruit "xacrifizers" to train with the team.
So, this is the lineup that played in the Charity DotA Tournament.

On the day of the tournament we arrived at FTZ Asia.net Cafe around 10 o'clock in the morning and registered successfully. After the arrival of all teams who registered for this tournament, the games commenced and we were up for our first match against the team LuVz. It was a pretty close game but in the end we won.
LuVz vs EoG
The second game was against Mz. For us, the game was really hard as we were stomped by them and thus, we lost it.
Mz vs EoG
The last game in the group was against Hot Rangers was (no offense) a stroll in the park for us.
HOT! vs EoG
The next day, in the following round after the group phase, we we paired with the team Xenon. It was a pretty much dissapointing game as we lost dreadfully. Nevertheless, here's the last replay.
EoG vs Xenon
All of us at EoG would like to thank fGm.DeJa^Vu|Wan for his contributions and apologize for our dismal performance in this tournament. Thanks for all of your support towards EoG.
Even Soda (roxsteady) was there to spectate plus a female friend from our college named Nadd who volunteered to be our photographer. Here's the pics.

BgL Cup Final
As the match that was heavily anticipated by EoG's players as well as our fans proceeded, the night turns out to be a night to forget. EoG has had to settled for 2nd place in this tournament.
As for the assessment, it was agreed that we weren't outpicked, but effectively outplayed by Leap Gaming.
Sorry guys for the late update, I was kinda busy these few days. Here's the replay.

Happy Fasting Month
There was no available replay for the online tournament that we entered as our opponent forfeited the match due to some of their team members being unavailable. We are still waiting news of the following bracket.
All of us at EoG want to take this moment to wish every Muslim (especially our loyal fans :D) a productive fasting month.

The reason of the undecided final slot is because we are still considering as to who is going to hold on to that place. Selection will be based on future performances and availability. Putih and roxsteady are unavailable due to their studies.

Disappointment T_T
EoG were pretty confident when we arrived in MMU for the Convofest Dota Tourney held in Cyberjaya. The time was around 10.45am when we registered our team and we were pit against NoTeamName. While we were waiting for our match, we hang around the area and bought few snacks + drinks to keep ourselves pumped up.
Around 11.45, the corresponding marshall called EoG and NoTeamName to enter the match area to begin our match. While we were setting our gears for the match, there's a match progressing in the room and you guys surely can hear the most famous quote in DotA tournament nowadays that is "NICE AHHHH". Back to our game, we loss the coin toss and they picked First Pick and we choose to go with Sentinel side.
I guess its just not our day, very lousy engagement + errors really costs us the game. Anyhow, let this loss be a lesson to be learned as we still have much to be improved, teamwork-wise and skill-wise too.
After our game ended, we drove to the nearest cafe to have our lunch and to discuss what went wrong and etc. Chitchatting + mocking was really the main thing that was discussed and we felt like we need to spice things up, so we went to Shah Alam, Surfer Cybercafe to be precise, to hang out with friends + having pizzas + inhouse scrimming to get our moods back up.
So that concludes our day. Hopefully you guys enjoyed reading as you were part of it too.
Lastly, EoG is really sorry for our bad perfomance in MMU Convofest Dota Tourney. We will train much harder to be the best.
EoG FTW!!

Exclusive News - Good & Bad
EoG has decided to recruit Muhammad "zeYRoe" Haffizy who is formerly from the clan STDN. He will be joining us ASAP as his middle semester is looming around the corner.
The bad news is, another of our player, Abdul "Putih" Fareez has officially been pronounced inactive as he has gone to KPM (Kolej Profesional MARA) in Beranang to further his studies.
So, I hereby welcome our addition zeYRoe, and all of us at EoG wishes good luck to Putih in his future endeavour.

4th in Surfer DotA Tournament
Firstly, sorry for the delayed update of the blog. As of popular demand, here I am posting anew.
Last weekend EoG went for Surfer DotA Tournament and we achieved 4th place behind MU.Gold.Mski, Cybertime, and MU.bL respectively. It is considered a success but I'm confident EoG still needs much more work to be done in order for us to disrupt the top sides.
All of us from EoG would stress our appreciation to our stand-in player used for this particular tournament, BreadM. He performed quite admirably that day.
Pictures will soon be available. (They need to be processed first! XD)

Top 8
The second day of Rakan Muda E-Gig for us started with EoG playing St.Ftw who themselves defeated Show in the second round. Again it was a full Chinese team against us (the last match were also against a full Chinese team; it saddens me to see a sport greatly loved by us Malays but somehow we always managed to be incompetent enough to fail).
Our draft was exactly the same as the day before with Undying, Demon Witch, Tidehunter, Faerie Dragon, and only our last hero was changed from Admiral Proudmoore to Priestess of the Moon. We eventually won by quite a margin and henceforth advanced to to last eight of the competition.
Only one hour later we were sitting in front of Malaysia's representatives (InC.xLo) in the last WCG Asia where they achieved the runner-up spot. It was intriguing and at the same time intimidating. Even though we kind of expect to be beaten by them, but some mistakes in our draft and poor coordination in game led to a disappointing heavy loss.
That's not to say we are putting all the blame on our leader (as he does the drafting), because all of us take some part in contributing ideas to him too. After this loss, EoG does not take interest in self-pity and we even trained again tonight.
Let's hope this Top 8 achievement would spur us on for more!
EoG FTW!

Helluva day
Yesterday, all of us arrived at Kompleks Rakan Muda Puchong quite early at 11.30 a.m. with the place packed with lots of young people hosting various events such as live band performances, breakdances, shufflers, netball, plus numerous video games. We were informed (unofficially) that the our game will commence around 2-3 p.m. but a series of problems occured as 10 of the desktops that the organizer brought was faulty and they were literally struggling to call on the teams as live bands are performing at the same time!
Things then turned sour as we had to wait until 7 p.m. to play our first game of the day. I could not remember the name of team that we fought but even though all 5 of us were flattened out by the agony of waiting and scorching heat of the day, EoG stuck to the plan and succeeded admirably. It turned out to be a pretty one-sided game.
Personally I would predict today's game(s) to be a lot harder for us but as we always do, we'll take these challenges head on. Certainly EoG would be needing all the luck in the world. =)
PS: Sorry no pics, all our team members were unable to get our hands on a camera!

Training
It's been a while since last trained together, so starting yesterday, we started training with various teams in the hope that we will be ready for upcoming tournament at Kompleks Rakan Muda Puchong. This tournament is set to feature some of the top teams in Malaysia (see here) who shall be competing for the top prize which is RM 3K. Yesterday was a great day overall as we swept five teams with ease. I wouldn't go as far as to say that we have achieved anything, but, nonetheless, our teamwork & communication (which i think are the most important aspects in DotA) is greatly improving barring minor scuffles and in-game disagreement.
Today however, ended in a minor disappointment as one of our players was constantly lagging as a result of the Cybercafe where he's at was experiencing connection problems and we practically cancelled our last match.
Anyhow, we shall be trying our hardest to perform at the upcoming tournament.
EoG FTW.

Losing never feels good
EoG clan, after a week of scrimming against various teams in Malaysia DotA Clan War Room,
we have been beaten by Ftz Penang. =)
Kinda feels like we're back on earth. Let this loss be a lesson to be learned as we still have much to be improved, teamwork-wise and skill-wise too.

EoG a.k.a. Essence of Greatness
EoG, which stands for Essence of Greatness is a newly formed Defense of the Ancients (DotA) clan which consists of young Malays. Although we don't have any other races in this clan, this should not prevent other races to join us, only if they are up for it, that is. This clan is formed as a result of several clans disbanding beforehand such as ex-S7, ex-STDN and ex-DC| and we are now working hard towards improving ourselves and be a respected clan in Garena, Malaysia and the world nevertheless. EoG clan will only be recruiting players (IF we want to) that has sufficient potential which should further our game as a whole. These are the list of our current roster:-
- ImKseR - Irfan
- Putih - Fareez
- Jynxie - Ijat
- roxsteady - Soda
- BlitzKreig| - Apit
- CaPiQ - Capiq
- xZapple - Ali
